Intel develops the Digital Rights Management system on the basis of blockchain

The Intel IT corporation works on a blockchain based Digital Rights Management system of digital images. The giant from Silicon Valley submitted the corresponding application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

“The blockchain technology is used for documentation and verification of attributes of digital content which are connected with protection of copyright. Such attributes can be among, for example, the identifier of the author of content; the temporary tag indicating date of creation of content; the tools allowing to find copying or change of content.” — the document states.

The described platform allows to use several types of the software at individual control of policy of protection for each image even if it has been loaded from external sources. After that the system has to create the unique identifier both for original content, and for the changed versions. In the patent they are called “shadow images”.

Also videos and other types of content for which fuller system of the rights with additional functions is offered, are mentioned in the application of Intel. For example, the system allows users to work with incomplete projects, including “unstructured” parts, such as literature with several editions. Thus content can be changed only according to parameters of policy of protection of copyright.
