Former Mexican President Vicente Fox spoke at the Blockchain Economic Forum in Singapore. In his speech, he noted that blockchain technology can be useful for the development of the country, including the areas of fighting corruption and restricting illegal drug trafficking.
The president sees a great potential in implementing a platform that democratizes data.
As an example, he noted that Mexico has to import corn for $ 40 billion from the US, because its own crop is not enough. Fox is confident that the older generation of farmers has accumulated enough experience and wisdom and knows how to improve yields. All these data and indicators, from irrigation to the seasons, can be made easily accessible to everyone with the help of a blockchain.
“Three and a half million farmers in Mexico will be able to access this wisdom and increase their harvests, which will benefit everyone,” says Fox, calling it the “Yellow Revolution.”
