The police of Tokyo interrogated the NEM trader

During the investigation of breaking of the cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck the Japanese police officers have interrogated the local trader who converted a small amount of coins of NEM into Litecoin.

The trader converted in coins of NEM in darknet, marked with the NEM Foundation system as kidnapped at Coincheck. After that the dealer had been detained by the staff of Department of fight against cyber crime of Department of police of Tokyo.

At the end of January one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges Coincheck of Japan had confirmed large theft of funds from the platform. In total it was declared about plunder of 58 billion yens ($533 million) in cryptocurrency of NEM (XEM).

The representatives of the exchange published the official statement in which it was reported about readiness of the company to pay damages of users at the expense of own means.

In particular, in the statement of the Tokyo cryptoexchange thet said about paying to 260 thousand holders of digital currency of NEM of compensation for the sum of $400 million “at the rate of 88,549 yens ($0,81) for each coin”.
