Fraudsters collected more than $5000 in Ethereum on behalf of Elon Musk and Vitalik Buterin

On the night of February 7 robbers through fake accounts of celebrities in Twitter stole from the Ethereum-community 6,2 ETH (more than $5000).

They used names of famous businessmen — Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, John McAfee and one of the creators of Ethereum – Vitalik Buterin and also names of popular exchanges and cryptocurrency services, including Coinbase and CoinMarketCap. From their person, they published announcements of distribution of Ethereum to those who send some sum of cryptocurrency to the specified wallet. In return, they promised to give back ten times more money.

According to experts, the jackpot hit by the robbers on the night of February 7 most likely is connected with the start of Falcon Heavy which took place the day before. This event drew public attention to Elon Musk’s figure and has increased attendance of the fake account.
