One of the biggest exchanges in the world, Bitfinex, is going to move to the Swiss city of Zug. Bitfinex’s executive director Jan Ludovicus van der Velde confirmed this information in the interview. According to him, the management of Bitfinex has already held several meetings with the representatives of the State Secretariat for International Finance of the SIF, as well as with the federal adviser Johann Schneider-Ammann, who heads the Economic Department of Switzerland.
“We are looking for a new” residence “for Bitfinex and the parent company iFinex, where we want to combine operations previously located in several locations,” van der Velde said.
As the Swiss specialists note, after moving from the British Virgin Islands Bitfinex will be registered as a public limited company and thus separate from the parent iFinex. The current leadership, headed by van der Velde, also intends to move to Switzerland. In the future, the legal, financial and technical departments will also move to the country.
However, the company is currently also considering the option of moving to London, but Switzerland “tops the list of possible jurisdictions,” added van der Velde. In addition, he noted that the site is fully ready to comply with all the necessary regulatory standards.
