13 000 users of the popular American trading platform for digital assets Coinbase received a notice that, in accordance with the decision of the federal court of the Northern District of California, the company is forced to transfer their data to the IRS.
This law is mainly about the users who carried out transactions for a total of over $ 20,000 during the year. However, in Coinbase, this is considered a partial victory, since the IRS originally required the data of half a million users, which the company successfully challenged in the courts. The IRS has requested the following information: the taxpayer identification code, name, date of birth, home address and transaction list for the period 2013-2015.
Among those affected by the situation, there was a well-known businessman, and concurrently a preacher of cryptophilosophy Andreas Antonopoulos. Nevertheless, he stressed that he honestly pays taxes from his crypto-currency state.
