Australian meteorologists mined bitcoins at the workplace

The Australian Federal Police is investigating two employees of the National Bureau of Meteorology who are suspected of using official equipment for the mining of bitcoins. This is reported by TASS with reference to local media.

According to the publication, two employees of the IT department presumably used the powerful computers of the meteorological office for mining cryptocurrency.

Representatives of the National Bureau of Meteorology declined to comment, referring to the fact that the matter is within the competence of the police.

Talking about Australia, the Australian cryptocurrency exchange Bitcoin.com.au has launched a new service, with which the country’s residents can purchase Bitcoins and Ether for Fiat. Since March 1, this service has become available in more than 1200 newsagents.

“The fact that you can now buy bitcoins and Ether in the same place where you usually buy newspapers, drinks and stationery, says how legitimate the cryptocurrency industry has become. For anyone who hesitated with buying bitcoins, because the process seemed too complicated, this is the ideal offering that allows you to invest in cryptocurrency without fear, “said Bitcoin.com.au CEO Rupert Hackett.
