The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Italy has prepared a number of laws for the regulation of cryptocurrencies. In particular, it wants to make the registration of cryptocurrency companies mandatory. The official document is published on the website of the department.
The new regulations treat the cryptocurrencies as a means of exchange for goods and services. At the same time, it is not supported by government agencies, it is not issued by the central bank and is not connected with other currencies, so the cryptocurrency is not necessarily considered a means of payment.
The main objective of this decision is to comply with the European Union’s rules on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism. Now the government has passed a bill for public discussion, which will last until February 16. It is expected that it will enter into force in early July.
