The authorities of China block channels of cryptocurrency exchanges in the WeChat messenger

The Chinese authorities began to block accounts of cryptocurrency exchanges in social networks. First of all it concerns the most popular messenger in China, WeChat.

So, the WeChat-channel of the known trading platform OKEx was blocked, and references to the previous content redirect users on the page with the following message:

“Considering complaints of users, this platform could violate the current legislation. This account is blocked, and the content is inaccessible.”

Representatives of the messenger deny the fact of intervention of supervisory authorities, however sources of Caixin confirmed that the authorities influenced toughening of censorship concerning the cryptocurrency exchanges which are still offering services to the Chinese investors.

Earlier, the Agency on supervision of safety of public information of China began to monitor the activity of foreign cryptocurrency platforms and also local platforms which had transferred the business abroad.
